BEST ALL-AROUND GYM EXPERIENCE

KX London

Leading the way for elevated fitness in Chelsea, KX is the private members club featuring a high tech gym, spa and wellness restaurant. It’s not just about working out, with nutrition and self-care being high priorities here. Members can expect a wellness assessment (think blood health body composition test and more). You’ll pay a hefty monthly fee but gain access to unlimited classes like spinning, boxing and pilates; all led by the city’s best trainers. Although this might be the most expensive gym in London, you will leave fit and fed.

Best for food and fitness.
๐Ÿ’ธ: From ยฃ615 per month plus joining fee.
๐Ÿ“: 151 Draycott Avenue, London SW3 3AL.
๐Ÿš‰: South Kensington station.

Virgin Active Mayfair

Sure, we all know Virgin Active, but have you been to the Mayfair location? Tucked away off Oxford Street, the huge space is hidden underground. You will find dedicated studios for boxing, hot yoga, reformer pilates, spin and more. Up there among the top 10 luxury gyms in London with a swimming pool, it also features a spa area with a sauna and hot tub, plus steam rooms within the changing areas so you can decongest before hopping in the shower. The price tag is hefty, but having spent hours at a time here, I can say it’s well worth the splurge.

Best for an all-encompassing experience.
๐Ÿ’ธ: Adult membership from ยฃ210 per month (concessions available and discounts throughout the year).
๐Ÿ“: Hereford House, 64 North Row, London W1K 7DA.
๐Ÿš‰: Marble Arch station.

Equinox London

Originating in the USA, this luxury fitness company is a name known around the world. If you’re after an exclusive fitness experience, check out Equinox gym in London. The Kensington flagship is fronting 11 different kinds of classes, from martial arts to sculpting pilates. No session would be complete without a stop at the spa, where you can re-energise with treatments in the form of massages, facials, skin peels, body wraps and reflexology.

Best for an exclusive experience.
๐Ÿ’ธ: From ยฃ240 per month.
๐Ÿ“: 99 Kensington High Street, London W8 5SA.
๐Ÿš‰: High Street Kensington station.

Third Space

Third Space London comes with a high price tag as the luxury health clubs provide classes, personal training and swish escapes across the city. For example, a multi-function rig, swimming pool, steam room, sauna, workout studios, and even a ‘Little Space’ at some locations, so parents can leave the kids. Hot yoga with infrared technology? Hydrotherapy pool with massage jets? Post-workout quiet rooms for meditation? You’ll find all that and more.

Best for luxury healthcare for the whole family.
๐Ÿ’ธ: From ยฃ230 per month.
๐Ÿ“: multiple London locations.

LONDON’S BEST BOUTIQUE FITNESS STUDIOS

BXR

Possibly one of the most expensive gym classes I’ve experienced in London, BXR screams luxury. It’s backed by Anthony Joshua, so count on tough sessions, with flagship class Sweat by BXR offering 45 minutes of class-based training. For those of you after something less intense, go for yoga sculpt, pilates or barre. There are now multiple state-of-the-art locations, but I love the original Marylebone studio. It’s got a gritty feel; from industrial style spaces to dark-hued changing rooms.

Best for boxing, of course.
๐Ÿ’ธ: Adult membership from ยฃ180 per month (student/corporate/off-peak concessions also available).
๐Ÿ“: 24 Paddington Street, London W1U 5QY
๐Ÿš‰: Baker Street station

BXR London Marylebone Gym - London Girl Munches

KXU London

Not to be confused with KX, this is the younger, more accessible sibling that you will find hidden away just moments from Sloane Square. Catering to a younger crowd, KXU operates on a pay-as-you-go basis with no contracts or membership fee. There is Hyrox, yoga, barre and hot pilates, but I loved the HIIT & Run class which combines treadmill exercises with weights. Without a doubt the best bit has to be the medi-spa, where facials and massages can be booked alongside a visit to the cryotherapy chamber and infrared sauna.

Best for fitness with a facial.
๐Ÿ’ธ: Classes from ยฃ25 per month.
๐Ÿ“: Pavilion Road, London, SW1X 0BP
๐Ÿš‰: Sloane Square station

1Rebel

With boutique boxing classes, high-intensity spin, buzzy reformer pilates and more, 1Rebel dominates the luxury fitness space. To list Angel, Broadgate and Holborn as just a few locations, you’re bound to find somewhere near you. Having incorporated Core Collective’s fitness studios under its wing, the brand works with some of London’s top trainers to bring you engaging classes in cool spaces. Better yet, some gyms offer blow dry and barber services for a post-workout glow-up. Use my referral link to save money on your first class.

Best for high-intensity training at an affordable price.
๐Ÿ’ธ: Classes from ยฃ38 per month, or 3 sessions for ยฃ45 introductory offer.
๐Ÿ“: various London locations.

Blok

From London to Manchester, Blok is the no-frills gym collective that focuses on barre, core, calisthenics, yoga and much more. East Londoners can choose from two locations. Clapton touts bare-brick industrial vibes while Shoreditch leans towards minimally-designed Scandi style. I’ve tested out the latter, opting for Cardio Killer and 60 minutes of boxing in the studio. On the other hand, for those who like to mix things up with a home workout, there is Blok TV.

Best for affordable classes and online workouts.
๐Ÿ’ธ: From ยฃ15 per month for Blok TV, ยฃ8 per class in Clapton, ยฃ20 per class in Shoreditch.
๐Ÿ“: various London locations.
