Best Reusable Nappies 2026: From Newborns To Night Time

Pim Pam Reusable Nappies - London Girl Munches

When my husband initially suggested the idea of using washable nappies, it was an instant no from me. Thoughts drifted to a poo-filled washing machine and piles of stinky laundry… between breastfeeding and learning to care for our first child, I figured I’d have enough on my plate. But the thought that this tiny new arrival would be going through 8-12 disposable diapers a day didn’t sit well with me either… for both the environment and our pockets. So, we decided to get to know the basics and unravel the world of eco-friendly nappies.

With so many brands to choose from, I spent my first few months of mumhood testing out all sorts of styles Poppers or velcro? All in one or pocket nappy? From newborn to one year and beyond, this is my guide to tried and tested reusable nappies for 2026.

If you’re still not sure how the world of eco-friendly diapers works? Read my guide on how to use reusable nappies first for your questions answered.

For The Best All-Around Design: Pim Pam

If your baby is the kind who likes to wear a nappy only, then Pim Pam will have them rocking the most stylish prints. Founded by illustrator Aless Baylis, this award-winning pocket nappy comes in two parts: a waterproof outer and two absorbent inserts. We loved these so much, that we’ve stocked up on a variety of prints; cute ghosts for Halloween, whimsical bananas, you name it.

I would argue that Pim Pam really do make the best reusable nappies for night time – we make sure to include both inserts and have our baby in a loose sleepsuit (we find that tight clothing can compress reusable nappies and cause them to leak) and this ensures a dry sleep. Also price-wise (especially when you consider the inserts are included), these are the most cost-effective of the bunch.

๐ŸฉฒType: Pocket nappy with popper fastenings.

๐Ÿ‘ถ Size: Described as “one size fits most”, Pim Pam nappies fit from about 8lb all the way to 35lb.

๐Ÿ’ธ Price: ยฃ4.99 per nappy (was ยฃ17.99)

What I liked:
– Pim Pam have the cutest prints by far.
– These nappies come out of the washing machine almost dry which is a huge time saver.
– Double gusset for a closer fit to baby’s skin so they leak less.
– Each nappy comes with two thick bamboo terry inserts – you usually pay extra for these with other brands.
– We found these to be a good quality material so they stand the test of time wash after wash.

What I didn’t like:
– It’s hard to find something not to like about these, but I would say that poppers in general are a little trickier to master (velcro is much easier).

For A Swim Nappy: Splash About

When you’re looking for swim nappies, ditch the disposables and try Splash About. Ideal for babies and toddlers, these come as swim diapers or wetsuits with built-in diapers. Both have their perks, but if you need something that’s quick and easy to put on then I’d recommend the latter.

Not only does the wetsuit keep your little one warm during swim lessons, but the built-in nappy means that you don’t need to add anything else. For the best reusable swim nappy, buy Splash About on Amazon and check out their wraps if your little one needs the extra warmth.

๐ŸฉฒType: All in one swim nappy.

๐Ÿ‘ถ Size: Available in sizes according to age.

๐Ÿ’ธ Price: nappy from ยฃ8, wetsuit with built-in nappy from ยฃ22

What I liked:
– Easy to get on. with velcro fastenings.
– You can purchase a wrap that goes under the nappy for pools that require them.

What I didn’t like:
– Unlike actual nappies, pee (and poo) will escape from these… as I learnt when I felt a stream down my arm as I carried my baby at the swimming pool!

For The Best Fit: Bambino Mio (Revolutionary)

Bambino Mio is up there with the best reusable nappies for toddlers and babies. An upgrade from their previous Mioduo and Miosolo ranges, the Revolutionary design fits from birth, with a dipped front for newborns and the introduction of a ‘poo pocket’. While I love the look and quick drying time for the Miosolo, the Revolutionary includes a double gusset offers great leak-proof protection, and these are my go-to at night time.

As for the patterns, they’re a playful mix from lions to crocodiles – however, I do prefer the prints on the other Bambino Mio products (the fruit and pastel colours are much cuter). I would say, this is not a long-term purchase as the Velcro wears away over time and after months of washing simply wonโ€™t stick down on some of our nappies!

๐ŸฉฒType: Pocket nappy/all in one with built-in booster. Fastening is a mix of velcro and poppers.

๐Ÿ‘ถ Size: Described as “truly birth to potty,” these nappies feature poppers that can be adjusted to your child’s size.

๐Ÿ’ธ Price: ยฃ19.99 per nappy

What I liked:
– Similar long-wearing results as Pim Pam – though personally, I prefer the velcro on the Revolutionary reusable nappy.
– Great fit for newborns, and we’ve simply added boosters as he got bigger and slept longer.
– Double gusset is better for leaks.
– Bambino Mio also sell a fabulous washing powder to remove stains and the best quality reusable wipes – they’re the softest and sturdiest of them all, and we use these from bath time to feeding.

What I didn’t like:
– You need to purchase boosters separately which can be costly – however, these are worth the investment in the long term.
– The nappies themselves take a while to dry.
– We found that poo can sometimes get stuck in this gusset and requires a good rinse before washing.
– While velcro is easier to manage than poppers, the sound often wakes my little one up when changing at night.
– The biggest problem here is that after a few months, the Velcro no longer sticks so leaking is inevitable!

For Poppers & Velcro: Kit & Kin

You might know Kit & Kin for cute eco-friendly nappies or sustainable cleaning products, but this modern baby brand is also fronting adorable washable nappies too. I tried their reusable essentials kit, which is one of the most valuable starter packs out there. You get 3 reusable cloth nappies (1 in each animal print), 1 pack of reusable wipes, 1 pack of 3 boosters and 1 pack of bioliners.

๐ŸฉฒType: All-in-one, with built-in booster. Fastening is a mix of hook and loop velcro plus poppers for a closer fit.

๐Ÿ‘ถ Size: Thanks to adjustable poppers, these are one size for all; suitable for newborns from 8lbs/4kg up to toddlers.

๐Ÿ’ธ Price: ยฃ17.99 per nappy (was ยฃ19.99)

What I liked:
– The only nappies to use a mix of snappers & velcro, they give a good fit to prevent leakage.
– Built in boosters mean less time organising the washing once it’s done.

What I didn’t like:
– Longest air drying time out of all nappies tested.
– Material bobbles easily, and doesn’t stay soft.
– These don’t have the best absorbency and we ended up changing these more frequently.

For A Feel Of Nature: Elskbar

With two types of nappies available, Elskbar is aiming to be the best reusable nappies for newborns. Another great environmentally-conscious choice, Elskbar is the Danish brand founded by Louise Gronemann. Born from a need for good fitting nappies that provide strong absorbency, Gronemann focuses on using natural materials such as TENCEL and bamboo to create nappies, cloth pads and period underwear just to name a few.

You’ll know an Elskbar product from the earth-toned colour scheme and nature-themed prints that include dandelions, mushrooms and butterflies. I tried the ‘natural newborn’ and then ‘natural snap-in’ once my little one had outgrown the first.

๐ŸฉฒType: All in one with popper fastening.

๐Ÿ‘ถ Size: Elskbar nappies come in 2 sizes: newborn (2.5-6kg) and child (6-18kg).

๐Ÿ’ธ Price: ยฃ21.20 per nappy

What I liked:
– Good fit, with a double gusset to prevent leaks.
– Materials wash well and are quick drying.

What I didn’t like:
– You’ll need to purchase the next size once your baby is over 6kg.
– Requires an absorbent booster with the main nappy and these inserts take a while to dry. The boosters also go on top of the nappy so they’re in direct contact with baby’s skin and I found that baby got wetter quicker in comparison to the other brands that wick away.
